A l’origine, le Morne-Vert hébergeait seulement une chapelle et la commune, détachée du Carbet, elle ne fut véritablement reconnue qu’en 1949.
Un climat exceptionnel rafraîchit en permanence ce bourg perché à 432m d’altitude.
Très apprécié pour son climat, cette commune offre en outre, des points de vue somptueux sur les Pitons du Carbet et la Montagne Pelée.
Au pied des plus hauts sommets des Pitons du Carbet, la fraîcheur du Morne-Vert et ses pentes impressionnantes donnent à ses quartiers des allures de Suisse martiniquaise, si bien que l’un d’eux a été baptisé Canton Suisse et un autre Beauvallon.
De part sa situation et la nature environnante, le Morne-Vert est, bien sûr, tourné vers le tourisme vert.

Very popular for its climate, this town offers wonderful sights on the magnificent Pitons du Carbet and Mount Pelée.
At the foot of the highest peaks of the Pitons du Carbet, the freshness of Morne-Vert and its impressive slopes give it the look of a martinican Switzerland ,which is the reason why one village was named Canton Switzerland and another that of Beauvallon.
Thanks to its location and the surrounding nature, Morne-Vert is, of course focused on eco- tourism.
