L’un des Martiniquais les plus célèbre, le poète et homme politique Aimé Césaire est né à BASSE POINTE en 1913, prés du quartier Morne Balai (Habitation Eyma). Située sur la Côte Atlantique. On peut admirer tout au long de la route qui mène à BASSE POINTE, de très grands champs de bananiers et d’ananas. Il aura suffi d’une pointe côtière un peu basse et descendant en pente douce vers la mer pour donner son nom à cette paroisse en 1680. De très belles demeures coloniales (Pécoul, Chalvet, Gradis, Macouba, Potiche ou Beauséjour) sont au coeur de plantations de bananes, d’ananas ou de fleurs. 2003 à marqué le 150ème Anniversaire de l’arrivée des Indiens. La région colonisée dés 1658 vit prospérer de très belles habitations dont deux des plus célèbres ont pour noms Pécoul et Leyritz .

One of the most famous Martinican poet and politician ,Aime Cesaire, was born in Basse Pointe in 1913, near the neighborhood of Morne Balai ( Eyma House).
Located on the Atlantic Coast, one can be seen along the road that leads to Basse Pointe, very large fields of banana and pineapple.
It only took a low coastal plain with a gentle slope to the sea to give its name to this parish in 1680.
Beautiful colonial homes (Pécoul, Chalvet, Gradis Macouba, Potiche or Beauséjour) are at the heart of banana, pineapple or flowers. 2003 marked the150th anniversary of the arrival of the Indians.
The area which was colonized since 1658, saw some beautiful homes prosper in the region, including two of the most famous named Pécoul and Leyritz.
