Cap Malheureux fait parti du district Rivière du Rempart. C’est le village le plus septentrional de l’île.
Ce nom est dérivé du malheureux naufrage du Saint Géran qui ne pu passer le cap en 1744.
La première mention sur une carte, remonte à celle de l’Abbé de la Caille en 1753.
Cap Malheureux est un des rares promontoires portant le nom de Cap.

Cap Malheureux is part of the Rivière du Rempart District. It is found in the northern tip of the island.
This name is derived from the unfortunate sinking of the Saint Géran ship that was unable to navigate pass that cape in 1744.
The first mention on a map, go back to that of the Abbé de la Caille in 1753.
Cap Malheureux is one of the few promontory named Cap.
