INFOS GÉNÉRALES

Située à l’extrême pointe Ouest de l’île, cette commune, la plus petite de l’île est une des plus actives, c’est la seule à être née après la construction de son port. Autrefois territoire aride, voire désertique, le Port a résolu de changer, pari audacieux, par une politique de “végétalisation” urbaine qui porte ses fruits. La première zone industrielle de la commune, au début des années 60, a été le début d’une aventure humaine assez conséquente : Le Port est aujourd’hui une ville dotée de nombreux espaces verts. Une ville sans qui l’île de La Réunion ne pourrait être ce qu’elle est. Point de départ et d’arrivée des marchandises, la cité portuaire et industrielle n’oublie pas ses origines et reste tournée vers la mer

Anglais : Located at the extreme western tip of the island, this district, which is the smallest of the island is one of the most active and is the only one born after the construction of its port. Formerly an arid land or desert, Le Port has committed itself to a daring change, through a policy of « greening » urban that bears its fruit. The first industrial zone of the municipality, in the early 60s, was the beginning of a fairly substantial human adventure: Le Port is nowadays a city with many parks. A city without which the island of Reunion could be what it is now. Point of departure and arrival of goods, the industrial city and port not forgotten its roots and is remains focused on its sea activities.
